december 2008 release ; debut lp from this unholy band of torontoan noise-niks, led by wintage’s kevin crump ...

these guys are mining similar terrain as other recent canadian mms faves cousins of reggae ; there’s that electronic pulse anchoring everything, but the instrumental/vocal upper crust here has more to do with the kind of pepper-spray lines of the fall than anything else (albeit taken at an inebriated snail’s pace) ...

some great wastoid energies on display, a promising start for these guys ...

disguises, "post-mortem depression" lp wrt-50

"post-mortem depression", the long awaited debut lp by disguises, scum & splooge surfers of toronto's noise/avant d.i.y. underground. a volcanic blast of rushing blood & damaged ear drums. "post-mortem depression" was laid to tape at the gas station recording studio in late october 2007. disguises spent a total of 2 days committing total "rock action" abuse live in the studio, scrapped off the floor by vibe captain dale morningstar.

but before that these songs were hammered out live in front of an audience, almost a full year before recording "post-mortem depression". hundreds of strings shredded ..... piles of fried speakers ... hours upon hours of vhs tape ate for samples (carpenter, dr. who, david koresh, and classic godzilla movies ... there all in here) a gonzo movie buffs auditory wet dreams cum to life.

what remains is a 21st century punk rock record crafted by a band to difficult to pigeonhole in to one specific genre ."post-mortem depression" seamlessly blurs the lines between avant/psych creep, free-jazz imrovisation, mechanized industrial groove, and total punk attack. an album made loud to be played loud .... with not one overdub, you fucking rubbahead. "post-mortem depression" a modern rock record created by a band burning the heat of now. d-stroy!

hittin hard from the hammer comes bottom feeder who are jeremiah buchan (fossils), and "forever" scott johnson (fossils). conjouring up a bowl full of bad vibes these two brothers in arms bust on horns, violin, cymbals, and a ceptic pit full of fx. as always keepin it completely real. commit total sewer-cide!

neat !!! first release in a while from the nihilist spasm band (forever-running weekly-meeting anti-american canadian free-music troupe ; legendarily hard-to-find 60s records on the allied label) in a splitsville arrangement w/david payne & co.’s fossils ...

please note :: each copy of these wintage “split” tapes comes with two 8.5” x 14” posters (one for each artist, detailed below) ; if you want me to ship your posters flat, i will gladly do so as i have just enough 9” x 14” mailers on hand, but keep in mind that these will not fit in the mailers i use to ship lp records (i.e. 12.5” x 12.5”) ... if you are interested in these lovely tape/poster sets & want them to arrive intact, i would greatly appreciate discrete orders for these & these alone ...
