january 2012 release ; ... another library gem (in this case, the 1970 psi-label “chronoradial” lp, along with tracks from musique pour l’image5”, “espace et actualité”, n° 18" “sciences - industriebestiaire”, & n° 12" “événements dramatiques et scientifiques” - all 1967-68 - to my knowledge the first reissue of anything from an mpi library in the contemporary era) ...

... amazing, short mood-pieces, largely performed by patrice sciortino on percussion instruments (although there’s a great deal of weird, animal-imitating instrumental grappling, some “spiders on my skin” styled pizzicato wavering, and the like ... listen to the sound-sample, into which i’ve put a clean 3/4 dozen random queues) ...

patrice sciortino:
chronoradial (plus extra tracks)

in the world of sound library and production music french avant-garde composer patrice sciortino is both unique and universal. his astounding late 1960s and early 1970s recordings for the prestigious musique pour l’image and psi labels receive their first serious reissue and reappraisal here.

cellos growl and twist with an air evocative of bernard hermann, choirs hiss and howl like alessandro alessandroni’s ‘i cantori moderni’ and the whole thing is as dexterous and playful as ennio morricone at his very best. but really sciortino is his own beast, percussive and jarring one moment, soothing yet unsettling the next.

reissued for the very first time is his landmark 1970 lp “chronoradial” plus a swathe of beautiful yet confronting (and incredibly rare) late 1960s french library cuts.

january 2012 release ; ... wow ; did not see this coming ...

right here’s a pitch-perfect reissue of peter thomas1975 golden ring library “orion 2000”, which stands (along with the 1970erinnerungen an die zukunft” - aka “présence des extra-terrestres” - aka “chariots of the gods” soundtrack) as his finest moment, encapsulating a bizarre approach involving a full-on psych band, a full horn section, and puncuating electronic embellishments (that always seem to pop out at the most inopportune moments - listen to the sound-sample) ... killer record !!!

orchestra peter thomas:
orion 2000

the 'holy grail' of kraut-space-funk

the highpoint of a career that boasts the legendary ‘space patrol(raumpatrouille) and ‘chariots of the gods’ soundtracks, peter thomas’ ‘orion 2000’ is a near-mythical release that was only ever pressed in miniscule amounts as a german library lp (in 1975) and has never been available commercially before now.

drums pound, basses buzz, horns flail and star-maidens wail. berserk electronic and musique-concrete effects collide with manic energy. there is nothing on this world (or any other) that sounds like the ‘blaxploitation-kraut-jazz-in-space’ sound of the orchestra peter thomas.

remastered from the original master tapes and presented with exclusive liner notes, the original artwork, four extra ultra rare tracks and rare photos.

the star-people have, at last, landed.

bruce haack
the electric lucifer
(remastered with extra tracks)

bruce haack's "the electric lucifer" is rightly considered one of the masterworks of 20th century electronic music. originally recorded in 1968 and 1969 (and released in 1970) it is an album both unique in conception and superb in realization. an eminently listenable work where pop-psychedelia and moog/musique-concrete sounds coalesce around haack's central metaphysical concept of "powerlove", a force so powerful that it could end war and unify humankind.

acclaimed upon its original release (one of rolling stone's favourite albums of 1970 amongst many citations) yet unavailable for over three decades, "the electric lucifer" is presented here for the first time on cd ! remastered and restored from the original master tapes recently discovered in the columbia vault (and featuring two previously unreleased bonus tracks), with hitherto unpublished photos from the original recording sessions and exclusive liner notes and recollections. "the electric lucifer" is your gateway to the profound yet playful universe of bruce haack, a "far-out" place where flower-power and inner-space electronics collide!
