one of the most mazing turkish music ever recorded, wild, raw and with fuzz guitar all over. still even for most turkish collector a kept secret. bunalim released on 6 singles which are incredible rare. they never did a whole album. produced by cem karaca. they say about the band: "god, they were crazy!  running all nude down the istiklal street, psychedelic light shows, crazy paintings all over the stage wall and screaming of "lsd!  lsd!" in their live shows".

first readily available reissue/compilation of material by this famous turkish psych musician from the early '70s. edip akbayram is the top of the big three of turkish delights (erkin koray, baris manço & edip). this release includes the best psych tracks from his first two albums and many singles -- 22 tracks, 90 minutes of music. his band dostlar formed the songs into something which takes you on an eastern trip, full of fuzz guitar, electric sax and great percussions. edip's dark voice makes you shiver and you feel like dancing right away. this is as good as erkin koray -- deeply spiritual and charged with politically powerful lyrics. this release stands as one of the shadoks reissue classics.

this is the second album after "time-before there was", recorded in 1969/70 in new york city. lynn david newton, tom mcfaul, richard stanley, bob stuhler (the drummer of hot tuna) and david rosenboom (on 1 track) recorded 60 minutes of creative music which was never released before.

again, this is a musical masterpiece, wellcomposed, wellcrafted, touchy and twisted songs with a big influence from the british underground. on some tracks the vocals sound like robert wyatt in the early 70´s. if you like the canterbury sound, artrock with underground roots, you will love this one.

the album has 16 tracks, 45 minutes of music.

recorded in 1968 in toronto, canada. lynn david newton, the founder of time studied in the same class as jim cuomo from the spoils of war in urbana il, beside 2 other members the artist david rosenboom was a member of time. this is a musical masterpiece. wellcomposed, wellplayed, touchy and twisted. all original songs with a big influence from the british underground, with harpsichord, flutes, percussions, horns, many effects and lot´s of heavy fuzzguitar and a singer who sounds like robert wyatt in the early 70´s.

a year later they moved to ny and became think dog, which will be also released this year. the dakota building (the home of john lennon in ny): imagine mia farrow in the movie rosemaries baby sitting in her window and watching the ny streets below while it´s raining outside.....that´s what the music feels like.

ah... i’ve been trying to get this one for a while now...

spoils of war were an experimental-psych group spearheded by james cuomo; a student of legendary wdr composer herbert brün (in fact one of brün’s killer fractal-paintings was used as the cover for the original 33rpm ep of “what happens now...” ) at the university of illinois urbana in the late 60s; it’s one of the better examples of the late 60s psychedelia “thing” butting heads with the academic tape-studio environ.

if you’re feeling the first white noise lp, silver apples, etc... this is pretty amazing piece of that very same puzzle... there’s a bit of fairy-dipped lite-psych, but it’s augmented by a few killer musique concrète pieces... highly recommended.

my favoured release of this year, lp and 7 inch ep, from mastertapes. never pressed before so you don´t have to look for originals, folks. heavy psych with tiny folky edges plus electronic soundscapes like first album by mothers of invention. has a connection to mormos but only the musicians, not the music. this is real heavy acid stuff, weird and twisted, stoned to max, pure lsd (loud screaming distortions), warning, people with fragile heart condition and emotionally unbalanced should not play this album...
