| the debut album on my reckankreuzungsklankewerkzeuge label... 14 2-minute beat/break freakouts & computer/tape/musique concrète experiments by 14 different aliases of myself, pieter christophssen, and jiro hachibana...
i had been experimenting with making concise sample-based etudes in my bedroom (armed with an akai s2800 & a mac performa 6300 running master tracks) for a few years by the time that the finger lakes were asked to open for the third eye foundation at the middle east (this would have been... july 2nd, 1997 - thanks events database!). the gig went well, well enough that matt and i got to chatting after the gig... i handed him a tape, he went so far as to dupe the tape and pass it off to some of his friends, and, as a result, i made a few contacts in the u.k. this led to a few offers to release some of the music as 7” singles on labels such as lo, swarf-finger, and che - alas, nothing came out of it. so... empowered with the knowledge of independent music industry goings-on that only a full-time position in said industry could yield, i decided to:
a: form a record label b: release an lp with the best 30 odd minutes. c: distribute it by whatever means necessary.
so, in the spring of 1998, this collection of two minute pieces was released... after an incredibly hellish experience dealing with europadisk it finally appeared into the world in one edition of 1210 copies on sea-green vinyl with different hand-cut and applied sticker sets for each season it remains in print. |
