p!?015 - christian wolfarth / enrico malatesta "mirrors" cd  there is not a lot to say when a young talented percussionist meet one of the master of improvised music, also percussionist ; we can just sit and listen what happens. this is what exactly did the guys at cosabeat studio during "mirrors" recording session. the result is incredible. you can really feel the musicians concentration and then understand the importance of every sound they created. this is a focused, brilliant, top class "sound dialogue" between two of the most dedicated artist i have ever met. christian wolfarth (b. 1960) is a percussionist; since the middle of the 80th’s, he’s involved in different styles of jazz and improvised music. he studied with billy brooks, pierre favre and contemporary composition with siegfried kutterer in basel. he collaborated with lê quan ninh, ignaz schick, marianne schuppe, martin schütz, martin siewert, michael vorfeld, jason kahn, hans koch, tomas korber, john butcher, gene coleman, evan parker. enrico malatesta (b. 1985) is a percussionist focused on improvised and contemporary music ; enroled in classical percussion instruments course at "bruno maderna" conservatoire of cesena, from 2007 he collaborates with teatro valdoca. he played and collaborated among the others with: jonas kocher, manuel mota, eli keszler, tristan honsinger, julian reiss, stefano pilia.

evol "fart synthesis" total time: '26 "00 limited edition: 200 design: lorenzo senni release date: 24/07/09 catalog number: p!?007 'fart synthesis' is the 8th episode in evol's ongoing punani series, and was edited from live recordings in osaka, kiev and toulouse between 2008 and 2009.   all sounds were synthesized on the fly on various computers. the final tracks were assembled in barcelona in the spring of 2009 using generative algorithms to splice and rearrange a large amount of sound files. the title of this cassette comes from a series of chats and discussions on digital synthesis techniques by rubén patiño (aka pato) and roc jiménez de cisneros.

lawrence english / tom hall "euphonia" total time: 38.18 format: cd limited edition: 300 design: lorenzo senni release date: 16/10/08 catalog number: p!?003 recorded throughout the first half of 2008, euphonia sees lawrence english and tom hall team up to explore a range of extended processing and compositional techniques. inspired in equal parts by the openness of cluster's kraut explorations, echoes of eno's ambient works, contemporary field recording and minimal electronics, euphonia creates a uniform sense of warmth and glow - a sonic rendering of glimpsed views from some distant, hazy horizon. working with various instruments, analog equipment, electronics, as well as a variety of 'in the field' processes (whereby sounds created in the studio were re-recorded in various environments such as dilapidated water tanks on a farm), the record is a tempered with a sense of muted restraint and subtle variation.

john hudak "on and on" total time: 70.28 format: cd limited edition: 300 design: lorenzo senni photo: cesare fabbri release date: 1/8/08 catalog number: p!?001 the other day, i heard a sound that sounded like music. it was a bird's song - a black-capped chickadee. the song consisted of four notes: a to g and g to f. first a to g for awhile, then g to f. the next day, the bird only sang a to g. the early morning was the only time i heard the song. when i hear a sound, i think of what the sound represents; but i also think of what it might sound like reduced to the basics of rhythm, melody, and texture. to create "on and on," i recorded myself strumming a guitar for a long time. i converted the strumming audio to midi information (a collection of numbers that hold the basic pitch information along with duration and volume). the computer had to simplify the strumming, and in this simplification, left me with a melody ... a succession of number information that i used to trigger the pitches of an instrument much like a dulcimer.
