september 2007 vinyl-only release; the 16th (jesus christ!) overall from the duo of marcia bassett & matthew bower (well; i guess the first few were matt solo... but even still...) - a near-impenetrable wall of sustained guitar-feedback/excess, barely audible shrieking, and a cave-bed of electronic zombie fuzz. the best...

hototogisu / robed in verdigris / np-03

hototogisu is the duo of marcia bassett (double leopards, ghq, un) and matthew bower (skullflower, sunroof!, total). for the past few years, they have been delivering intense guitar / electronics based drones of gargantuesque scales. robed in verdigris is their 16th release and only the third on vinyl. 3 tracks spread over both sides of extreme sunshine and ecstasy. a total assault of metaphysical vibrations.

september 2007 release; the second from the “egyptian” nashazphone label & the first full-length i’ve been able to grip by the band pengo since their 2002 carbon-label “climbs the holy mountain” set (which isn’t to say they haven’t been prolific in the intervening years; in fact they’ve done albums for gods of tundra, audiobot, and hippie overdose - i just ain’t never seen ‘em...)

nyoukis liners (printed in both english and egyptian-arabic !!!) seal the deal...

pengo / counterfeit memories / np-02

rochester's pengo is john schoen, r. nuuja and jason finkbeiner. 2/3 of them have previously played with arthur doyle. hailed as the world's most psychedelic band, they come back with "counterfeit memories" which could be their darkest statement so far. a departure from 1970's ugandan extravaganza into possibly the synapses of its then leader.
