he was born in sancti spiritu, province of santa fe, republic of argentina, the 23rd of april 1961 and at an early age he moved to cordoba city. he became a composer in the national university of cordoba, where he obtained the title of licentiate in musical composition and also the university prize and gold medal for the best qualifications. at the same time he studied guitar in the city of buenos aires with the concert player irma costanzo. he also developed his career as interpreter and composer both inside argentina and abroad. he represented his country in the world wide festivals of the jeunesses musicales international federation, in canada in 1985, in poland in 1986 and he coordinated the one which took place in argentina in 1987. his works have been presented on other occasions at the 2nd, 3rd and 4th contemporary musical festival of cordoba, (the libertador general san martín theater) ; in the first argentina congress of music, (camu) ; in two occasions in the colon theater (buenos aires), in the independence theater (mendoza) ; in the san telmo foundation ; in the national university of la plata ; in the national university of cordoba, in the editions of national week of electroacoustic music, between 1989 and 1995 at the recoleta cultural center, in the stanford and san diego universities (ccrma, usa) ; in the "synthèse 95" festival that the international institute of electroacoustic music organizes in bourges (france) ; in radio france (paris/france) ; in the centro di sonologia computazionale della universita di padova (italy).
in 1986 together with pablo de giusto, the duo biffarella-de giusto was formed, with whom he recorded "encuentro" in 1987, with works of latinamerican composer, (studio moebio, buenos aires). in last years he specialized in producing multimedia shows, combining his efforts with important plastic artists (carlos alonso, marcelo bonevardi, zdravko ducmelic, among others), with choreographers, scenographers, actors, photographers and video producers. among these productions, the most importants are : "los espacios de borges" (cordoba 1989), in which are combined four stages and three gigantic screens simultaneously ; "el concierto de las campanas" (cordoba 1993), in which were coordinated the sounds of six church campaniles by means of a computer to which was added a chorus of forty voices, the contemporary ballet of the cordoba university and a sculpture specially designed by marcelo bonevardi, all of which were placed on a stage in front of the cordoba cathedral and "la empresa" (cordoba 1993), a show with one hundred and fifty young artists participated, from the most various artistic fields, working under the coordinations of "hexagono carmesi" group (biffarella, bonevardi, gili y reyeros) and which was transmitted in its complete form by atc (argentine color television).
towards the end of 1992 he was invited as the guest composer in the lipm (laboratory of investigations and musical productions/buenos aires), in which he has already produced various works. in 1995 he travels to france, specially invited by the international institute of electroacoustic music which commissioned him to produce two works, which were made in the studios of that prestigious institution, in the city of bourges. that same year, his work is presented in the centro di sonologia computazionale (padova university, italy) and he is specially invited to the bienale di venezia.(1999) |
