| | gameboy (usa) #gb 073 cd little enjoyer (united states) #le 01 cdgreg kelley “i don’t want to live forever” compact disc - i don’t want to live forever (36:08)
| this was listed previously as being on little enjoyer - it is in fact a split release on both gameboy and little enjoyer...
the funny thing was that i was recently sitting in a bar w/greg (davis) and ben and we heard “crimson & clover” over the p.a., incredibly loud, thought “damn, what a strange song”, especially the gated-vocal outro, which is just about as sci-fi as it got back then. anyways, i digress...
this is not the nmperign greg kelley but in fact the heathen shame greg kelley, stipped bare of wayne & kate, let loose on a teenage mind-control expedition via healthy application of electronics (electro-harmonix pedals, i believe) recorded (and this time, no joke) on microcassette while in various exotic locales across the northeast borscht belt/tin-pan.
on top of the below, greg’s fascination w/the new blockaders’ “anti-music” is certainly starting to creep through, all that rust & decay (the tiny ferrite particles that hold sound to tape getting less & less audible these days) alternatingly adding and taking away from the acoustic wind/metal vibrations. a more exalting solo trumpet recital you will not hear this year or next... |
| | greg kelley. shit. the best virtuoso to ever make this shit sound. microcassette recordings of live tour with mike bullock get chopped, spliced, looped and even a little composed.
inspired by harry pussy and the amm/mev split lp and somehow 'crimson & clover.' greg told me so. i didn't just make that up.
in some moments (the opening moments in particular) this easily greg's most abrasive work and it definitely has the trumpet fuckery you know kelley for, but there are a few moments that are geniunely beautiful. but ain't it all really?
edition of 500. co-released with the brand new label little enjoyer. |
