the schumann resonances (sr) are a set of spectrum peaks in the extremely low frequency (elf) portion of the earth's electromagnetic field spectrum. schumann resonances are global electromagnetic resonances excited by lightning discharges in the cavity formed by the earth's surface and the ionosphere.

waves of incredibly low frequencies rising and falling in very specific patterns, dissolving the listeners outside abilities to simply hearing and literally feeling the sounds. demanding to be listened to through speakers,  headphones, or both at the same time.

two full length live recordings. ranging from an earlier, more long-form set in chicago 2009 to a more recent set of several pieces recorded this previous fall in st. louis. personally,  this release serves not only as a document of "performance" but also to illustrate the sometimes strange dynamic between the person playing, the people attending, and the place it's all occurring in.

october 2010 release ; ... i’ll use this space to assert that mr. jack “baronic wall” gilbert, is as close to an “outsider genius” type as exists in this ferrite-preserved universe, first dropping his casionic stream-of-consciousness ramblings via agents of chaos, now here reinvented in a post-shadow ring setting involving scattered “cracked” electronics and a kind of “lexical music” -styled sound-poetry that rates as one of the more bewildering / rewarding tape in ekhein’s (or ... any contemporary cro2 providers’) catalogue(s) ...

something far stranger. debut release by welsh duo the compass rose. odd "musical" collage and speech contributed by jack gilbert (baronic wall, paul ballance, dve). songs about the end of humans, whole wheat and david bowie's awful carpet. hypnotic, confusing and terrifying. a huge combination of various elements, ideas and time unleashed on this release that certainly doesn't belong anywhere i've ever been before.
