| cd version. fantastic new set of recordings from these hoch-kunst deities, as featured in the 2002 whitney biennial. el-ron used to gig w/these guys in the old fort thunder/rogue gallery scene in providence... i’ve recounted many a time my first exposure to them as follows:
“a man wearing an afghan body suit ingests an entire 2-gallon bowl of spaghetti, shoving individual strands through the holes in the knit while two other men provide ‘music’... one on microphone run through a ‘frodo’ (bode model 6402 dual ring-modulator), the other on some sort of frankenstein keyboard-radio shack junk-kit making pulsing orbs of low-tones. this continues for some time until afghan-man exits, only to return a few minutes later, clearly dispeptic, lurching at unwilling concert-goers in motions of regurgitation, failing to do just that. climax and end. enthralling stuff...”
this recording sees the two musical elements aforementioned razzing on some mythic theme, all disorted bleep-analogia, an extremely gratifying alien communication-session. as a much needed respite from all that squeaky clean dc offset/digitalia, i’ll gladly take what these folk are dishing out. |
