| ...the other ragnar grippe disc worthy of your time/attention; this collection of 3 pieces; including (first) a nice-enough 40-minute piece (”ten temperaments”) recorded in 1981 at ems stockholm using mainly synclavier (but also; buchla, piano, triangle, claves, woodblock, kettledrum, transistor radio) - coming across as a “smooth” / 80s update on “sand” (the synclavier must have been rather impressive back then; a shame it dominates this piece so much ...)
...but what should grab you first (consequently, what you should listen to first) are the two pieces composed in 1976/1976 at luc ferrarri’s alm studio (“situations i” and “ur undrens tid”) - both completely killer jolts of electronic drone-sound, comparable - if not even surpassing the lofty peaks ascended to on “sand” - the former a vocal-led miasma of stereo blur & tape-effects on par with kosugi’s “catch wave” ultimately culminating in an almost prog bit of looped guitar, organ, and electric bass - the second a wash of shimmering organ & echo with distant voices and “plundered” chamber music...
decidedly odd-duck stuff; if you’re feeling “sand” consider this the essential “sister” release you didn’t know existed until now... |
