schimpfluch-gruppe “paris aktionen • aktion 961123 b/w aktion 970223” long playing record
aktion 961123 (18:10)
aktion 970223 (10:10)
august 2009 release ; extremely welcome issue of this pair of schimpfluch performances - the legendary “spaghetti-aktion” from paris, november 1996 along with what sounds like a british aktion from february 2007 ... both pieces feature rudolf eb.er and dave philips at the core & similar game-plans ; first bathing us in 10-minutes of near-silent clank and throat clearing before an unholygrowl-howling(grhowling?) comes in at near-ecclesiasticlevels (listen to the sound-sample) ...
completely mind-melting stuff ; one of the bestarchival-format issues of “prime-era” schimpfluchiana we’ve had the pleasure of distributing ... highly recommended !!!

schimpfluch-gruppe - paris aktionen lp
brutal document of twolive actions performed in paris 1996 & 1997. aktion 961123 (the infamous "spaghetti-action") featuring rudolf eb.er, dave philips, helena greter & aktion 970223 featuring rudolf eb.er, dave philips, helena greter, doris tomasoni.
edition of 500 copies. mastered & cut by rashad at d&m, berlin. co-released by tochnit aleph & beniffer editions.
august 2010 release ; zonked set of jugular zoology from the thee gnostics crew, heard here peddling a pair of side-length tape-collages of in-situ jams, plunderphonic etudes, and whatnot ... pretty damn great.

zamut nevagnu eniarrol "signals from origin five" cassette
this is another mid-nineties gem from the same starry-eyed subterranean drug cult that spawned thee gnostics, but unlike the panoramic grab-bag of semi-rehearsed garage-punk lunacy of the double cassette released earlier this year, this contains but one "dosed" session from the winter of 1994. the aural residue left from said session illustrates the ascent into lysergic connectedness, moving at once from dissonent bog water rafting, through insect-like walls of anxious indigestion and high noon-style orchestral tuning, through incendiary pastures of sandy quilts and eastern mysticism and finally down the quaking path of a schizophrenic quarry where churning harmoniums and medieval poetry coalesce into the ultimate hell ride. everything here vibrates with the violent calm before a holographic lobotomy and i can only give it the highest recommend for those looking to expand their what the fuck collection.
august 2009 release ; can’t believe i missed this in the previous round, as in many ways it’s the crystallization of joshua & andrew / beniffer edition’s whole aesthetic / “thing” ::
... a hand-bound, 96-pagebook(printed on heavy card-stock, no less) covering their collage-art, poetry, and assorted constructions presented in a bag with two tapes, offering a side each by dolphins into the future(lieven martens’ new age synth zones), crown now(teenage sound-poetry with a prior tape on jessica rylan’s irfp), man made hill(”pawn-shop electronics” ; but more like the love child of ymo & felix kubin - listen to the sound-sample), and lead sister ii (“a one-man kemialliset ystavat”), along with four double-sided inserts covering the details of each of the musical contributions (see below) ...
the whole thing’s dripping with blind enthusiasm(well, maybe not as much blind as driven) ; by far the most effort-oriented title we’ve have in a while ... highly recommended !!!

beniffer editions winter anthology - book and 2x cassette
96 pagemonster book featuring the visual smegma of jacob horwood and andrew zukerman and more! contains ayal senior's the last screenplay, an unabridged, unwound stammer through his 340972 film ideas, an instant classic, really... the book includes a 4-way split over 2 cassettes, featuring man made hill(canada), dolphins into the future(belgium), lead sister ii (japan) and crown now(usa) ...
man made hill is all of the jackson 5(even the dead one) channeled through one white-man with his sub-par pawn-shop electronics and extensive knowledge of "avant-aesthetics". this is guilt-free dance music.
dolphins into the future is lieven martens of imvated, or whatever label he's doing right now, a reformed nude-noise ruffian now turned onto the new age by the holographic entities of jung, gurdjieff and watts and trying to replicate the sound a dolphin makes in a napolitaner carton filled with peroxide.
lead sister ii is a one-man kemialliset ystavat forging new directions with a battery of home-made instruments and noise-makers. why this is not a colony of dumpster-diving vegans in the foothills of some 60's parody is a mystery to me.
crown now is a boy and a girl, a dejected duo brought together because they wanted to make the cheerleading squad. this document of their practice the night before and also the reason why they were rejected is the fourth and final side of your patience.
wasted nymph “inmost diarrhea of the astral crone part ii” c80 cassette
inmost diarrhea of the astral crone part ii (1)
inmost diarrhea of the astral crone part ii (2)
september 2009 release ; i really don’t know much(read: anything) about this contemporary montreal outfit, but whatever mescalin / peyote variant they ingested, leading to their combined vomitus spontaneously forming into meticulously grained iron-ferrite particles on magnetic tape ... well, let’s get that into production tout de suite !!!

wasted nymph - inmost diarrhea of the astral crone part ii cassette
wasted nymph continue their infantile excursion into the stereo diaper, probing the depths of their fly by night aesthetic with the audible grief of an gastroenteroligist's rehearsal dinner. sometimes when a piece of music like this comes my way i find myself at a loss of words, embracing abstractions to better illustrate the esoteric; but i find that with this particular piece of transgression all that comes out is foor camcamcamca jjjjjjjjjje re-o re-o corsica numnums.
for fans of early red krayola and broken penis orchestra. still the best band in montreal.
january 2010 release ; loved the previous beniffer tape from the grouping of dominique alexander, joshua bastien, and (now)brian seeger’s wasted nymph - this one raises the bar with an even moreso decimated spray of zombie-holler antics, condensed into two side-length “suites” ...

wasted nymph - urlapse cassette
the nymph is back with it's legs spread further apart as if on some demonic exercise machine. the addition of montreal's nintendo-psych king brian seeger adds a dexterity that make those lady-bumps jump like a bowl of jello on a mechanical bull. with this cycle of new songs, our favorite trio stretch out their ramshackle compositions on the train tracks, allowing them to writhe in delightful syncopation before being jammed underneath westbound freighters carrying olive garden restaurants from town to town.
a single 30 minutecassette comes in the usual white plastic fantasia case with a cover designed by josh bastien of the band and zukerman.
september 2009 release ; one of the nicestcassette-releases anyone has put out there recently - a cardboard folie a deux houses a silk-screened tape, which is then wrapped inside four individual swaths of fabric, each silk-screened (in multiple layers) on both sides ... must have taken these guys ages to get all of this together !!! kudos on the follow-through ...
musically, it’s 8 tracks from jenny & m.v. at their most dissipated ; electronic grunts slip & slide, over which some sort of twisted, fairy-tale / parable gets woven, again & again ...

metalux - 1-0-0-3 cassette
metalux has carved their name into the forearm of contemporary whatshamacallit music, backwards, in braille and with a shiv fashioned from a colgate medium bristle toothbrush. this emission is testament to their handiwork... dollops of seafoam nausea seethe in the tumult of tape-manipulated vocals while hypocritical sheets of electronic sunburn blaspheme immodest keyboard vendettas... kind of like eating a mustard gas sandwich while you're pregnant.
comes in a package of 4 double-sided silkscreened patches on organic-cotton, and another board thing that's pretty good, i guess...
september 2009 release ; second beniffer tape from bram devens, featuring further marble-mouthed “singing” and alternatingly scathing / jerry-likeguitar “liquid” ...
eye-popping tape-release, wrapped in a die-cut card-stock foldout absolutely coated in runic slurs ; seals via velcro !!!classy ...

ignatz - some of them are funny songs cassette
this little number marks bram deven's second helping on beniffer after the hugely successful (for us) cassette a couple of years ago. fans of ignatz will notice that there is something noticeably different about this compared to bram's earlier overcast transmissions - a certain amount of, dare i say overtness? which isn't to say that it is completely lacking in the cavernous brume of his signature blues-lathered night-vision psalms... no nono n o n ooo, these songs have been growing in the same mildewy place under the mattress, the creative undergrowth that inflamed the minds of other downer-folk heros such as dave bixby, jakob olausson and alexander spence, but this time recorded on a clean, de-magnitized tape with percussion and organ accompaniment. you will like this. comes in a silkscreened fold-around.

january 2010 release ; lovingly presented (two 40-minute tapes in a baggie with a 48-page color-vomit booklet - detailed below) collection of works from this mid-90s, hamilton-based modern psych group ...
super zonked, lo-fi scattershot vibes ; reminds me of my time spent listening to “alan’s psychedelic breakfast” boots on my walkman on the floor of the kitchen, ca. 1985 ...

thee gnostics - archival 2x cassette/booklet
in a faraway land, where crystalline car dealerships and stately drive-thru slop shops stood immaculate, a band of sagacious, chemically-altered teaheads huddled in a vacant post office in a tent that was left there from the time of the sumerians. this was in hamilton, ontario - early 90's... anyway, the ceiling of the tent was deep space; constellations became their pets and unnamed planets became their personal pan pizzas... it was there that they met god, it was all blueberry shaped non-sequiters and top-heavy answers, enough to cave in the cab of a cube-van. upon stumbling out of the now fog-encumbered tent their heads were weighted down by the incessant drone of the spheres, a tinnitus-like unceasing that clouded their perception. with nothing else to help with this cochlear roar they harmonized, like a ragtag assembly of beached boys with an orphic caveman stomp that matched the brutal profoundness of the soul. and here it is - the selected works of thee gnostics, a band that ceaselessly put petals on wahwah pedals in the tradition of hawkwind and the 13th floor elevators. this is a serious instant classic.
double cassettes come with a 48 page silkscreened/photocopied fanzine-style booklet, with re-appropriated poster art and with liners by bruce mowat.
two representatives of scum-bagism from "down-under" throw-down two gauzy alluviums with the faint proclivity for rock and roll metaphors and grungy stereo-shit aesthetics.
side one sees armpit-related messiah dialation in the form of freak-punk anus tsunami futurians. these boys play like its 1999 upside-down and seething down the mind-catheter. definitely the scuzz you've come to expect from such an operation with the added pixalation of shitty recording technology and other factors i'm sure...
side two finds the bloated carrion of jam-band estimation (falcoxi) replete with panty-hose used as both the means of asphiziation and a rug-fuel truncheon. here veet and his faction of wank minstrels teem with whatever antonyms you can muster for lucid.
this here cassette is an edition of 40 with art by the futurians spattered with nz insinuations and a retrograde demeanour.
august 2010 release ; brain-flash from the ... being ... of one “loachfillet” ; long an agitator on the bay-area scene (tight w/ the godwaffles folks, headboggle derek, etc...) issued as a 7” single(as with much of the beniffer stuff something i hadn’t seen before ; the credits are screen-printed directly on the record itself, bleeding over the edge of the actual label ; classy) tucked inside a ludicrously cool-looking spongiform-coatedbook with art from the usual susps(horwood, zukerman, andy evil moisture, etc...) ...
yet anothervision(as if one was needed @ this stage) that the toronto cru in question are turning the vital act of “thing-making” into something other ... out-does even the much-loved-around-these-parts “winter anthology” as a thing to put in your personal time-safe ...

diatric puds and the blobettes "weird watusi" book/7" set
diatric puds is a californian brain trust spearheaded by count loachfillet... with his gaggle of undead musical minions he retools the sternness of electronic music in his own cemetery sensibility, allowing it to cross-breed and co-mingle with a playful haunted house sound effects vibe no doubt reminiscent of the cherished halloweens of your youth. this dish of haunted chop suey features the rutting of some decapitated cat manning a cauldron of devoured souls with fingernail xylophones, a witch with a speech impediment, every album thought to contain subliminal messages played backwards all at once and the sodden graveyard memories of a mangled airplane casualty who died in vain.
this truly scary 7" comes in a 48 pagedeluxe hardcover silkscreened book with art by jacob horwood, andrew zukerman, andy bolus, winston hacking, michael comeau and north mutator.

beniffer editions cordially invite you to take a whiff of the soggy tour panties of crank sturgeon and gastric female reflex who in the midst of poor hygiene and everlasting sunday morning sentiment bring you their first collaboration.
these psychic emanations of pedal gazing, pause button cliff-hangers and haphazard button compressions were recorded on dennis tyfus' radio show and edited down to the bare essentials by charles balls.
art works by sekitani in tri-silkscreened splendor by thee benifese retions!
august 2009 release ; fitting that this collection of home-recorded nonsense would find a home in the bennifer catalogue, esp. given the associations(amateur wrestler turned rock n’ roll maverick, songs recorded between 1986 & 1988, largely puerile & very “outsider”) ...
fun stuff ; the interim tape-collage bits (listen to the beginning of the sound-sample) are prettywell-done ...

bad boy butch batson lp
bad boy butch batson is based out of north carolina where after a brief stint in the world of amateur wrestling he took up the blue-collar lifestyle and produced spare parts, a labor of love that took 10 years and dozens of studio musicians to realize.
the result is a reckless cavort through the annals of popular song, ranging from wrestling rock anthems delivered in almost heroic beefheart-ian gaudiness to mid 80s slasher vibes with narration provided in a congested indignity by a self-hating eunuch to uneasy love songs from the acne-scarred panty-collector, all interspliced with a series of gawky real-life tape collages. this is real outsider shit and no comparison to jandek or the shaggs will fully elucidate monumental what-the-fuckdedness of this here slab of vinyl.
august 2009 release ; interesting one - a side of plunderphonic(i spotted loops from the doors, nancy sinatra, etc ... ; these are used as backing tracks ala the first blues control record), 60s-leaning tape-traper pop music, then one consisting of a single “ambient” loop-piece ...
comes in a magazine-sleeve with a giant fold-out poster (detailed below) ...

archaic women "the hit sixties" now availablearchaic women is the nom de plume of toronto's max turnbull aka slim twig. on his debut release under this pseudonym max rehashes deep psych-pop passages of moribund hipster lines into new a kind of post-something rock melange reminiscent of nothing up to this point... what is it? like the carnival-esque soft-shoe monkey-dance sung through florid gums and skinny pants, breath all beleaguered with prescription scotch and thai stick, hypnotized by the pummeling custard of 60's tits... kind of like if slim twig was covering his own songs in a phantasmagoric vacuum of subaqueous reverb and pre-cheesy organ plaque between the bridgework of the all-consuming rock and roll aesthetic.
comes in a 18"x24" double-sided silkscreened poster by andrew zukerman and an insert by jacob horwood which is also silkscreened.
