the preterite drops this fantastic 2x cassette release which sounds like it came from another world -- one where factories float in the sky and willy wonka's running for president. something of a "piano" album, the preterite takes this most hallowed of instruments and molds a fantastic aural clouds that take winding, angular paths on the way to building up a melodic, cacophonous maelstrom.
