| | | rewind (usa) #rew 005 lp soundmurderer / sk-1 “badman b/w lock it off” twelve inch single record | | fifth in the rewind record series from mssrs. soundmurderer (aka todd osborn) and sk-1 (aka tadd mullinix aka james t. cotton aka dabrye.) truly ridiculous linear compressed amen cutups & ragga vocals; excellent... these guys have done their homework; little bits of remarc, dj hype, dj ss, etc... all jump out of the mixes at various points. it’s not just a pastiche of late-century ragga euphemisms but a fresh mongrel beast... “lock it off” runs them ragged via a cutup of tenor saw’s “ring the alarm” riddim; “badman” slays with it’s ever-changing form. both tracks have extended looping outros for seguing into the next track... |
| | | another massive twelve inch from the pre-eminant ragga label from the states, rewind. absurd complex amen edits, guntalk vox, tough basslines, and smoothed out reggae breakdowns. absolutely dangerous. |
