simon whetham ascension_suspension (e41) these minimally-processed recordings of cable cars were made during a trip to the portes du soleil region of france, in les gets, morzine and les lindarets. the sounds have been layered to enhance the feelings 0f suspense and tension experienced during the journey. bristol-based simon has been a musician for almost 20 years. in 2000 he composed and recorded the soundtrack to artist kathryn thomas' first solo london exhibition, and has continued to record music for her shows, as well as working on his own experimental pieces. simon's previous work, 'dark light audio tracks', was released by the online label filament recordings in june 2006. the work is a soundtrack to an exhibition, 'a dark light', which comprises paintings, photography and film taken on and informed by a trip to iceland in 2005. cd/2006
