| | | locust (usa) #locust 35 cd no. 9 “where come from? and where to?” compact disc single - no.9 - where come from? and where to?
- hrvatski - “... bottle of claret for you if i’d realised”
- bundy k. brown - laws of large numbers
| | nice little ep single thing here, a precursor to mr. 9’s forthcoming us debut album on locust. had a lot of fun with the remix (esp. as joe and i use the same hardware sampler, taking all of the bite of constructing millions of programs in order to do the remix). bundy’s remix is very, very beautiful. and the original is a fine slice of contemporary electronic digital pop. very cool... |
| | | first up, is a new cd ep by no.9 (joe takayuki) featuring a fine cut, “where come from? and where to?” from his fortcoming debut full length, mushi-no-ne. no.9 is an unsung electropop mastermind from tokyo’s invigorating onkyo scene whose knack for melodic pop, jazz grooves and stuttering rhythms recall the cinedelic scores of umiliani, tv spy jazz & the wistful hooks of 60s pop. this ep features two generous remixes by boston’s hrvatski (aka keith fullerton whitman) & chicago’s ken (bundy k.) brown (directions in music, pullman). hrvatski locks “where come from” into a galactic rub a dub mix of typically high quality tom foolery & ken brown cuts the caffeine & checks in with a mellow hypnotic drifter’s soundtrack. |
