... whereas the first two pieces here are represented by contemporary-era recordings (done in 2003 in baden-baden at hans rosbaud’s studio) the final three all appear in their contemporaneous realizations ; namely the extended tape-piece “fassung” (composed in 1964 at the wdr & absolutely, gorgeously gnarly :: one of the most impressively transgressive pieces to come out of the studio !!! listen to the sound-sample for a long excerpt) & the exceedingly noisy, claustrophobic group-improv / “live-elektronik” masterpiece “jagdstück” (from 1966, no less) featuring the tag-team guitarists wilhelm brück & theodor ross (known for their legendary playing on kagel’s “exotica,” “staatstheater,” & “tactil”, lachenmann’s “salut für caldwell”, and stockhausen’s “der jahreslauf” & “dienstag aus licht”) on loud electric guitars (kind of unbelievable, really) ... |
