| july 2010 release ; heres a nice remixes set from the fine, recent majeure double-lp, with (first up) a nice carpenter-esque stomper from paterras zombi band-mate steve moore, then a rather woozy, wow / flutter-addled take from godfleshs justin broadrick (that goes from too pure-ifiable to almost dupstebby) then an oddly pro sounding side-length take from black strobe ...
in a way this kind of un-does what i love(d) about the album itself (i.e. the timeless, yet kind of dated, yet still retro synth-trace work) by trying to contemporize it, but its fun nonetheless ... |

| majeure timespan remixes trr185
release date: july 20, 2010
timespan remixes is exactly what the title implies: the entire debut album by majeure (aka a.e. paterra of sci-fi rock luminaries zombi), remixed by three of his friends and favorite producers. zombi co-conspirator steve moore expands on the opening minutes of timespan to give it an ominous john carpenter dread. jesu mastermind justin k broadrick transforms teleforce into a 10-minute vertigo-inducing shoegaze epic. renowned french producer black strobe closes out the album with a staggering 20-minute reinvention of the dresden codex, a white-hot house banger that scorches straight away before disintegrating into an ambient heap of sci-fi ash.
this vinyl-only release is strictly limited to 500 copies. |
