| june 2012 release ; ... kind of a sea-change for this belgian imprint (prior concerned exclusively with european minimal synth reissues) ... here issuing american balinese gamelan composer loren nerells first tape, made in a style that can rightly be described as synth collector music (i.e. music for people that collect synthesizers ... the genres most visible performers being michael stearns, steve roach, robert rich, kevin braheny, etc) ...
... largely comprised of cyclic rhythm & melody modules, littered with metallic lines & some deep, thumpy drum machine glorp, this speaks some of the same language as the carpenter / howarth collaborations, while being maybe a bit cheesier ; something of a paean to the eras fourth world conceits ... |
