| | june 2009 release ; i really can’t foresee a time when skot “kraag” spear’s whole oeuvre / shtick won’t appeal to my inner teenage mind ... normally i’d swear off this sort of ruthless, tact-less rampart plunderphonic pastiche, but having seen skot do this stuff in real time (in front of people, with only a table of scattered sound-producing detritus at his beck/call) i can attest to his innate knack for making these sorts of add-afflicted, pre sugar-coma antics play ... |

debut lp by this monster of current fluxus. a fantastic composition of tape, computer, voice, choir, all sorts of instruments and objects, etc.
in the beautiful gardens surrounding the city of portland, maine. in a small disconnected community, there is a being living by the name of skot spear. in his country called kraagistan, spear is creating his own sound universe for years now. an amalgan of strange cdr's, cassettes, dvd's, books, paper and ephemerea, is the evidence of a man's own dictations and conversations in the ether.
performing as the live statue of id m theft able, people were challenged to witness a world beyond the clouds of maat. gateways to a highway of influences reaching from the hip sound poetry of those 60's lore we all adore, the modern media and the future ideas. regurarly being namedropped by a core of sound seekers as being one of their biggest post 21st century influences.
babb's bridge is a concept album about a beautiful late 1800 bridge with a story. skot lurked in the ether surrounding this bridge, conceptualising a book that is recently unheard unseen. an album with so many little themes our cognition blanks and trebles. and challenges our mind into a self producing entity of storylines. this is the debut lp of id m theft able, after an extensive study for non permanent media. this album will appeal to fans of both kemialliset ystavat, the scumbag relations imprint, shmf, sten hanson, otto muehl, gedalia tazartes and the modern tales of fishsteak crank sturgeon ... |
