graveyardsuntitled” lathe-cut eight inch single record

  • untitled (1) (7:20)

  • untitled (2) (6:50)

most recent in this series of square 8” lathe-cut records, curated & produced by the fine, fine folks @ the alt.vinyl shop in newcastle, in direct/full coordination with peter “lathecut” king down in new zealand ...

these & the prior batch are all decent quality, mono pressings, with each side hovering around the 7-8 minute mark ; which is to say - dollars-per-minute ratios given - these aren’t all that bad, price-wise, considering the unique nature of the one-at-a-time lathe-cut system vs. the content provided (all material exclusive to this series) ...

i’ve gone through the lot & transcribed audio from the actual copies here @ mms, played back on a turntable of moderate quality, just so you can hear what you’re up against ... imho, these are just as mind-boggling as the aa records lathe-cut series & should be treated with similar levels of reverence ...

graveyards untitled 8"
alt.vinyl av011

limited edition of 150, transparent square lathe, hand-cut by peter king of new zealand

graveyards return with a mighty slap around the chops on this amazing wedge of basement-scuzz-free-jazz-splat, burped violently from within the pyramids of michigan with the help of wolf eyesjohn olson on reeds and the duo of ben hall and hans buetow on percussion and noise. this is a raw-lipped gurner of awesome proportions. bloody heck!

traumbuilt for nothing” one-sided long playing record

  • built for nothing
click the play button to hear an excerpt of "built for nothing"
february 2008 release ; a one-sided lp featuring the duo of lambsbread’s zac davis (guitar) and graveyardsben hall (drums) - zac’s joe morris idolatry comes across as clean as his tone, but the best comparison i can make (which has been made time & time again - i know - but it’s apt ... ) is to the derek bailey / jamie muirdart drug” lp on incus ...

arbor54 traum - "built for nothing" 1 sided lp

suburban michigan is a breeding ground where every weirdo has a label, a band, and a handful of secret/under the radar collaborative projects. here graveyards' ben hall and lambsbread's zac davis create a monolithic one sider influenced by too many private press jazz records and abstract instrumentalism.

davis turns in his effect pedals for nothing; pure clean tones plucked up and down scales and bridges so uniquely that it is easy to confuse the guitar for a sax. ben hall drums like a man with four arms; constant rattling trap tapping and assorted pots and pans clattering, flowing completely smoothly. a perfect union of sound.in an edition of 300 copies in screened chipboard sleeves by anthony decanini.

less self is more self 2cd set (tarantula hill benefit)
cat: e#107

tarantula hill, the preeminent east coast usa clubhouse for traveling noise and other obscurant pleasure musics of the early 21st century, was ravaged by fire in march 2006. t hill was also the abode of nautical almanac, a remarkable dada love-sound noise trio consisting of carly ptak, twig harper and max eisenberg. located in baltimore, maryland these fine folks feted the likes of all that is amazing in the underground community of post-free zone music/art/performance. as an irreplaceable venue/hangout it will be completely missed and mytholigized.

lots of cool benefit gigs have happened in honor to tarantula hill since the blaze. ecstatic peace decided to help by throwing together a double cd compilation of artists who had intimate association with the joint.

an amazing array of participation here, all kinds of wolf eyes breakdowns: aaron dilloway, nate young, the graveyards (w/ john olson), the haunting (w/ mike connelly), to live and shave in l.a., leslie keffer, jessica rylan, mark morgan (of sightings), chris corsano and tons more.

musically the cds flow with an astounding dynamic of sound idea exhibiting a scene in glorious rapture to the outer grasp.
