impeccable, spacious work ; continuing on from his inside-piano exploits (as witnessed on the “one hour as bernel and hoffman” set) but taking them to a new level ... this music is positively dripping with detail ; close-mic’ed events are hedged with distant rumblings (listen to the sound-sample for an almost baudouin oosterlynck-lineage segment) - the natural decay of each sound is allowed due space ...
this has easily been the most listened-to lp around the mms offices for the last few weeks ; repeat listenings offer richer and richer details & the whole undertaking has an immersive maritime feel to it (perhaps zeier’s day-job as a plankton fisherman has somehow influenced the proceedings) ...
far & away one of the releases of the year ... highly recommended !!! |
