| | | fargone (usa) #far 030 cd doug theriault “orange” compact disc recordable | | doug theriault: sensor guitar controlling live electronics.
recorded live straight to 2-track at studio ltr in portland, or on june 10, 2004. cover art by eric ostrowski.
the first of three simultaneously released new doug theriault albums on fargone, following up on his well-received jeph jerman collaboration, red, water. this one's a solo disc from this versatile and under-documented portland guitarist, and orange provides a welcome chance for the unitiated to dive headfirst into the array of sounds that theriault eeks out of his custom refitted, motion sensor-triggered guitar. over the course of this album, theriault explores lush, flowing tones that only very seldom betray their guitar origins -- this music sounds almost wholly electronic, from thick ambient drones to glitchy bursts of noise to rhythmic pseudo-techno. comes in a white gatefold sleeve with full-color pro-printed artwork. |
