| | based in a post-industrial city in northeast france, double nelson play a unique brand of electronic avant-rock, blending live instruments with samples, loops and found sounds. fixtures in the european underground, double nelson have recorded a couple of well-received albums, scored a sci-fi film, and toured extensively, opening for boredoms, mecca normal, alex chilton, and mudhoney. most recently they finished a number of dates supporting stereolab. the music is hard to describe; try to imagine boris plank, pram, and tom waits engrossed in a game of pacman. tim gane of stereolab described them as "a shuddering dislocation of geiger counter and the gurgling pulse of jelly. origin unknown." |
