gorgeous gatefold double-lp containing a side each of music recorded in 2006 at los angeles’ il corral by the touring combo-deal of john wiese (quite minimal/restained for wiese actually; a slow quiet/muted crescendo into somethingof a noise-void), dead machines (clanking abandon, then stasis) damion romero (deep electrical field of modular buildup), then all three acts (again, quiet at first, but then the fury of a thousand bleating ghosts rends forth a wail... a mass of shrieking horns & bludgeoned electronics/guitar feedback...)

did i mention the record is lovely? it is. really lovely. if the dronier end of the contemporary harsh-noise spectrum gilds your lillies; you’ve just found nirvana...

through rules of association i'm obliged to affiliate tovah olson's name to the recently overwhelming output of two assemblies: dead machines and wooden wand and the vanishing voice. unfortunately, write-ups and creative compounds of the like rarely move units, no matter the quality of the music. to say that this document of olson's solo output stands on its own two feet is an understatement. i'd say it stands more firm than your shitty band, and in fact, can spare the balance of one extra leg to mutilate a lock-jaw from a canister obligation!

what we have here is an appetizing morsel of post-post-everything stereo belittlement, a complete dirge to wrestle cambodian prarie-dogs to. electronics and toy guitar-trepidation for the whole family! comes in 7"x7" chipboard foldover, double-screened extrerior and marbled/ screened interior with an illustration by mark "turbo" pellegrino.

the a side was recorded at the first no fun festival in march 2004 (brooklyn) and features a little comedy to start with and then things get heavy...and the second side is the very first vg kids/wolf den ypsi street level throwdown....our set was live on a 6 color shirt screen press and nate brought a fog machine that blasted out the room and into the parking lot night of the vg complex...near the end you can hear people chucklin cause its absurd..that night was also the first "offical" sick llama, and mi debut of failing lights...great night....dm had a weird 7 small speaker set up on the heads of the press and spun it slighty for that dead-universe dying electronic creeping blast sound....."

i asked john to write something about this but he never got around to do so. dylan's fest in the uk came between i think. however, this is a heavily psychedelic drone trip from john & tovah olson from detroit. dark soundtrack muzak that will rule your skull... intense but laid back... the best recording i heard from the dead machines, no doubt. it comes packed in a beautiful b/w cover with a full colour inlay. and -it's limited to 600 copies. act fast baby.
