| november 2008 release ; debut from this new aggregate of reto “rm74” mäder, roger “herpes ö deluxe” ziegler, and christoph hess ... the guitar/turntable/electronics lineup is certainly unique, and by bathing everything in a tank of long-tail reverb, things get awfully cloudy awful quick ; shades of tim hecker’s approach are evident throughout, and in fact i’d think fans of said would have much to sink their teeth into here ...
ps. note that this one comes in a rather nice acid-free, matte-black digipack instead of the standard utech/kasner “flat pack” ... |

switzerland’s sum of r is reto mäder (rm74) and christoph hess and roger ziegler (herpes ö deluxe) constructing/deconstructing sound in ways that infest and cloud the interior of the mind. the implements: electronics, bass guitar, piano, drums, harmonium and lenco turntables. the science: deep pulsations, organic drones, melodic feedback accompaniment, vinyl loops, analog sound sources, reversed audio, haunting vocal treatments. the sum: a living, breathing organism that sustains varied levels of function without ever losing its holistic unity.
presented in a heavy black matte sleeve printed with silver ink.
