split disc, with each artist conjuring their own soundtrack to a classic experimental film by american auteur stan brakhage. lasse needs no introduction, but andreas is someone whom you should sit up and take notice of; aside from his tireless efforts working the rune grammophon label and yearly safe as milk festival in haugesund, andreas is becoming an excellent composer of parallax-view computerized sound-worlds, not far from the vein he champions (i.e. greg davis, alog, fennesz, etc...) excellent overall.

melektronikk's latest gift to you is a split cd entitled "brakhage". noise titan lasse marhaug aka jazzkammer, and debutant andreas meland shares the circle with very different and individual pieces. both pieces was originally performed live in 2003 during a screeening of classic silent movies by the legendary american filmmaker stan brakhage (1933-2003). since then, both artists have reworked and expanded the live material extensively for this release.

ingar zach & andreas meland: music for tinguely cd

ingar zach (b.1971) is one of norway`s leading percussionists and founder of the record label sofa. he has recorded for the ecm and rune grammofon labels together with his bands dans les arbres and huntsville and has released several solo and duo records.

andreas meland is a norwegian sound artist and musician. he has recorded with the projects røyskatt, norwegian noize orchestra, düplo and forell plus several solo projects. he is also the founder of the experimental music festival safe as milk and the melektronikk record label.

music for tinguely consists of two pieces commissioned for the jean tinguely exhibition - the future as we know it - presented at the henie onstad art centre in 2009. zach`s piece tinguely solo was created for the opening ceremony of the exhibiton on april 16th, 2009 by using a gran cassa, percussion, sruti box and drone commander mixed together with sounds from the meta sculpture by jean tinguely. andreas meland`s piece the future as we remember it was performed at the centre on april 19th as part of a concert day together with the bands in the country and golden serenades. all the source material for meland`s piece was recorded on site in the jean tinguely exhibition.

this is music inc. - a town called lulu

first in a series of milkland split single eps on the safe as milk label (run, natch, by the guys that put on the yearly festival). andreas is the main bird behind the fest and the label (plus contributing to rune grammophon), and his side is a wondrous voyage into unknown underwater landscapes. the act on the flip i know very little about but their track is well dope.
