welcome to everyone for this cd launch, the 22nd and the first of alexandre st-onge on montrteal label oral oral. this work is singular, vivid and direct, the 3 parts are glued together as a sound jewel. following his tribute to joseph carey merrick, composed and played at epoxy 5 par alexandre st-onge ce personnage lors de l'vneme, in montreal, may 2007, this not to be missed cd builds a relationship in between two monsters with deep feelings : the author and the man whom filmaker david lynch immortalized in his movie the elephant man.

joseph carey merrick incarne cette ide, dj manifeste sur mon prcdent album mon animal est possible (alien 8 recordings), de communiquer avec des monstres et dexorciser ma monstruosit travers des spectres sonores. ici, la monstruosit signifie la possibilit dune relation avec linsaisissable, elle est lavnement dun tout autre sens qui jamais ne pourra tre confondu avec la signification. travers cette suite de chansons pop lectroniques pour voix, basse lectrique et ordinateur jessaie de faire passer travers ma voix celle de joseph carey merrick. il sagit dun rituel de possession de/par lautre, semblable une planchette ouija, o mon corps/ma bouche est devenu ce clbre moyen de communiquer avec les esprits.

biograpy :
alexandre st-onge is a human being, a man of 31 year old for now, a composer, a bass player, and improviser. he also studied litterature and philosophy, but he likes animals, his friends, fanny and the material world more than anything else (is there anything else?). he did five solo cds: lamiti ou les rumeurs insoutenables du dsir (squint fuucker press), kasi naigo (squint fuucker press), une mchoire et deux trous (namskio), image/ngation and mon animal est possible (alien8 recordings). he is also a member of a number of bands, including shalabi effect, feu thrse, mineminemine, et sans (with roger tellier-craig), klaxon gueule (with michel f cote and bernard falaise). as a composer he has collaborated on works for media arts (kondition pluriel), dance (with karine denault, lynda gaudreau, maryse poulin, mariko tanabe et marie-claude poulin, and so on), for theater and for video. |
